Okay, what's with all the Charlie Sheen jokes this week? (Rhoda does not follow celebrity news because she doesn't much care what they're up to when not on a screen, entertaining her.)

Charlie Sheen has been demonstrably off his rocker in all his public and private dealings for a month now, making him the new Britney Spears.

The situation came into sharp public focus when his ex-wife siezed full custody of their twin boys (little guys, younger than 4) away from him, stating: "I fear Charlie is insane right now."

Somewhere in the mix he was fired from his hit TV show "Two and a Half Men." And he is now responding to ALL of this by posting endless tweets and videos loaded with pompous vitriol and delusions of grandeur, all which only further indicate that he's not mentally right at all at this time.

Due to uchecked mental illness he's destroying himself via his free and ready access to modern interactive media, NO ONE is intervening by taking away his degital-era soap box and megaphone, and we're all laughing at him and contributing to his demise.

I will add that I am very torn over my willingness to laugh at Charlie Sheen. I'm ultimately laughing at someone else's destruction. And I have respect for what happened 6 years ago when the Monty Python crew was doing Spamelot on Broadway. They had originally written a handful of Britney Spears jokes into the script, poking fun at how shallow she was. But then, after a year of Spamelot being a hit on Broadway is when Britney Spears finally began to go certifiably psycho. And so they edited ALL the Spears jokes out of the script (and out of all future performances). When asked why, they issued a press release stating: "We have no desire to make fun of a mentally ill woman."

Some people need agents heavily armed with tranquilizer darts.

I think it is the auto accident effect going on. People will slow down and take a peek no matter how much damage there is.

It is humurous at first, but it is ultimately sad to see drug abuse tear someone's mind apart.

I am so out of it. I don't even know who Charlie WHo? is... I first heard of him when his name kept popping up here.
But Slush Pile Hell is brilliant.

I feel no guilt for laughing at Charlie Sheen because, before he began to go down this dark road, he was still a wife/girlfriend/porn star-beating arsehole.

I'm a little disturbed by how often tiger blood and Adonis DNA have come up in conversation the last few weeks, though.

I cringe when I read 'fiction novel'.

My fave is the Tom Cruise one .

Screw Charlie Sheen. He made his choices, and is acting with intent.

Doesn't anyone think this particular entry a bit too pat? There probably aren't many clueless wannabes reading SPH; and the note contains as many symptoms of the Golden Word Syndrome as can be crammed in five-and-a-half lines.

Or is it me who is being clueless and are all entries on Slushpile Hell made-up?

Yeah, letters like those exist. I've seen them.

There is nothing that I haven't seen on SPH that I haven't seen in the slush pile.

I believe you, it's just this particular entry that feels fake. Every line is calculated to make the writer appear ridiculous to the audience of the blog. Also, why is it directed at SPH? It's the rant of a rejected ego, but SPH doesn't reject people, and I doubt many such people follow the blog anyway. I think this message was a prank mail.
