It'll be God giving them a second chance for being so righteous as to warn people.

Probably.

I saw a documentary on telly about ten years ago about a guy who was convinced the world would end that summer on a specific date. I'd love to know what he did the day after.

Or, they'll say their math was wrong or they misread the Bible...

This reminds me of...was it The Simpsons? Homer keeps believing the end of the world is coming?

Ah, but the world is coming to an end. Could be tomorrow. Could be May 21. Could be in another billion years. That's why the first rule of prophecy is no dates.

If they do believe it as much as they appear to, what are they going to think when it doesn't happen?

From what I've seen in the past, they'll claim a mistake and shift to a later date. Their movement will continue on for a while, but with no credibility.

By the end of May, the UK weather might actually be decent. I bet the world does end. On the first sunny day of the year.

::sigh:: Figures. May 22nd is my birthday. :D

Hey, you've still got another 153 days of hell on earth to enjoy before it all goes *poof!* or you get to go to heaven on your birthday. Think of it as a special birthday firework display

They say that those who believe in Jesus will go to heaven and the rest will be left to endure 153 days of "death and horror" before the world ends on October 21.

I used to listen to his call-in show once in a while to laugh (before I realized he was pure poison, and not at all amusing). This is his third "the world's ending!!!eleventy!!!" date, IIRC. When the sun rose as usual on the day after his first two, he weaseled out of it by claiming miscalculation from errant Bible translations.

IOW, the dog ate my Bible! It's not my fault!

Puh-leese.

Don't worry. According to the X Files, you've got until December next year.

Well, Mulder is claiming a mistranslation of the Mayan Calendar and the actual date is 10/28/11. Or is that Scully?

They've already done that once:
"Despite his conviction, Camping has predicted the world would end before - on September 4 1994. That, he says, was a mistake, a misreading of the biblical codes used to decipher the exact date of the 'rapture'."

Well, time to quit my job and get drunk out of my mind. Thanks for this.

Haha, I read about this a few days ago. It saddens me greatly that these people will just shrug it off on the 23rd. "Well, I guess we just miscalculated! the real date is ____!"

In the article I read, there was one guy among them who regretted not getting married before the end of the world. Poor guy. I hope he gets him some on the 23rd.
