ETA: Yeah, there's some  comments there.

About time. Tired of hearing about this ego-maniac on the news. Let him fade away and move onto better things.

Next stop for Charlie: Celebrity Apprentice, followed by Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

Seriously, he's just loathsome.

Hmm. I just watched Entertainment Tonight and they did not report this.

In fact, they made it sound like he might have struck a deal with the show to come back.

So much for the "Chuck Lorre needs the publicity" theory. :) Sounds like Sheen will be going straight to Celebrity Rehab.

That or Hoarders.

I guess ET must have taped their show ahead of time so they weren't up on the latest news.

I heard them say Charlie was fired on the nightly news. And of course it's all over the Internet.

Dear sweet Jesus God, this means he could wind up on the CW, TLC, or MVHE!TV1 on a "reality" series...

And here's a memo from the Department of NO SHIT, SHERLOCK: Sheen surrounded by leeches enablers. (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/07/business/media/07sheen.html?_r=1&WT.mc_id=BU-PS-E-OB-PS-TXT-TH-ROS-1010-NA&WT.mc_ev=click)

I could NOT stand that disgusting piece of shit show. I'm glad Charlie did the spiral. He did the world a favour. I hope the show doesn't somehow see rebirth.

I'm glad, though I did like the show when it first began. I thought the jokes were fairly clever, and I didn't know what a lunatic Sheen was.

But after a couple years, as the kid got older, the show got boring and repetitive.

I liked Sheen's on-screen mom too. She was funny sometimes.

I feel bad for the other actors, but definitely not Sheen.

He needs...to be taken down a few notches. Not that that'll happen. He'll just be indignant and find someone to take advantage of his insanity to make them both money.

You should buy a TV that doesn't autotune to the show and force you to watch it. Then, you wouldn't care if it was on.

Kinda like me and American Idol.

Or just get a DVR/Tivo. I only watch what I record. You wouldn't notice all the crap that's on TV because you never get to watch them.

I'm glad Charlie did the spiral.

Why would you be glad to see someone fall apart as a result of drug and alcohol abuse?

maestrowork
03-08-2011, 10:03 PM
While I agree I wouldn't want to see someone fall apart... Charlie Sheen's problems are bigger than his drug and alcohol abuse. He tested "clean" after all. I think it's a problem because he is basically a 12-year-old living in a 45yo man's body. He has the perpetual Peter Pan Syndrome and believes he can behave badly and people would still love him... and the public enabled him for a very long time. It's time to shut him down and show him some tough love, and see if he ever grows up.

There's no one else to blame except Sheen himself. His family has offered help but he turned them all down. He knew he needed help but he wasn't "ready." You can't help someone who doesn't want any help. Intervention can only go so far. So while I don't wish this on anyone, I do wish for him to wise up and seek help... and soon. And wish for the media and general public to STOP enabling him.

That looks very tidy, but I can tell you aren't an addict. His testing clean has nothing to do with anything. You would know that if you were in recovery. He's been ingesting drugs of one sort or another for some time. Just because a person stops using or drinking doesn't mean they bounce right back to "normal". As a matter of fact - most long term users never do. The way they interpret the world has changed.

It isn't surprising that you, and probably plenty of others unfamiliar with addiction, are labeling him - Peter Pan Syndrome or whatever else comes to mind - that's very convenient and extremely shallow. The problem is that you don't understand the massive internal war that goes on inside the active addict or the new person in recovery. And because you don't understand you adopt terms that make you feel okay.

Blame - in a situation like his - is useless. It's like using the word should. It serves no point.

Okay, I get what you are saying, and I agree that his being an addict makes him someone other than who he might be if he were a fully functioning adult.

That said, Sheen has a long history of treating people, particularly women, like shit. He's a violent domestic abuser. Being an addict doesn't give you a free pass to act like an asshole without condemnation or consequences.

I hope he gets help, too, and maybe in a few years he'll be doing Oprah talking about his bestselling memoir and getting tearful accolades for his "brave journey to recovery." But you know what? He'll still be a dick.

I admit, I wasn't a fan of the show, but if a employee of pretty much any company did what he did, they should expect to get fired from their job. Most reasonable people would know that would be the likely outcome of their actions. Even more, it wouldn't be news.

I'll be so glad when this is no longer news.

Your horse is really high.

And how do you know we don't gripe about rising gas prices, potential wars, unemployment, etc., too? Are ill-behaving actors off limit, and because....? So imperfect people can't talk about other imperfect people?

I have a feeling this high horse is going to be a dead horse soon.

The news sucks. It's depressing. It makes me want to stay in bed with the covers over my head, because I can't affect 99% of it positively in any way.

So a daily dose of Stupid Celebrity Tricks is what my office uses for stress relief. And honestly, Sheen's Quote of The Day is usually good for several laughs.

Also, to continue this slight derail, there's occasionally a Good Celebrity Trick. (Yes!) Apparently Cyndi Lauper was on a flight that was delayed for who knows how long. People were frustrated and angry and miserable--so she gave them an impromptu private concert. Posed for pics, signed autographs, and was generally a cool person.

It's the little things. :)

Carry on. Where can I get some of that Adonis DNA? I need to spiff up for my next signing--it's at my old stomping grounds. Shouldn't I be able to show a gorgeous hardbody to my old HS classmates instead of saggy old me?

I happen to have an addict in my family who's done some really awful things to me. And just like her addiction does not mean she gets away with stealing from me, Sheen's addiction does not mean he gets away with beating women.

And he does beat women. And yes, I do blame him for that.

He made a good point in the 20/20 interview though. Charlie said that if he were someone in a rock band or something that the media wouldn't care as much; and I believe that is true to a degree.

Maybe. But when you make a public spectacle of yourself, expect to be judged.

If the guy wasn't so selfish, he would think more about the others around him that care about him. Not to mention the fact that his kids will have this follow them since he craves attention so much.

While, sure, he is spiraling downward, and needs help... what he's been doing has been calculated to a certain degree. And it's been working! He said in an interview when asked about his "catch phrases" that they're fun to say. He knew exactly what he was doing when he starting using Winning and Tiger's Blood, etc. So, I find that part of it funny and entertaining.

I only wish I could cause that much drama and attention for my e-book.

But I do hope he gets help for the rest of the madness.

I understand. To be clear - I am not excusing his behavior. I'm suggesting he might not beat anyone when he's sober. I don't know that with anyone he's hit - he was sober and sane at that time.

Sobriety doesn't come after being abstinent for three months after years of drinking and using.

Meh. People in big rockbands generally aren't getting paid a base salary of millions for their work by a network. People buy tickets to their shows and buy their music, or they don't. Not much of a point at all, imo.

He's making a public @ss of himself and acting like a spoiled child. Sympathy meter reads zero.

Charlie Sheen's personal life is his privacy. He's been misbehaving for years and no one really said a word, and he kept having jobs. All that drug and alcohol and porn stars don't affect his ability to be an actor. It's not like this is the first time he acted out.

So yeah, we've been cutting him slack for years.

But that changed. This is not about his messed-up personal life... this is about him bringing his craziness to work, affecting production, and publicly badmouthing his employers (while still under contract), saying all those crazy things about people who cared about him, who worked with him...

So this "I'm a victim" thing just won't fly. Sorry, Charlie.
