In the world, the writing world in particular, people keep talking about not wanting to sugar coat things. They don't want to provide you with items that are coated with sugar, they think you would want an object covered in sugar.

This (probably short-lived) thread is for things that are better covered in sugar.

I will offer my favorite sugar coated items:

!. Sour patch kids. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sour_Patch_Kids

2. Trolli-s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolli

3. Powdered Sugar Doughnuts

4. Chocolate covered raisins (chocolate is made of sugar, so this counts)

Any others?

Sausage and bacon should be good and smothered in maple syrup. Mmmm.

Candy-coated Advil. What's up with that? They're freakin' delicious.

For the record, I actually prefer everything sugar-coated. Including feedback on my writing. Just a spoonful of sugar, you know...

Yes Sarah that is the spirit! You know, now that I think of sugar coated things, I used to take diet pills, and I swear they were sugar coated. They were sweet.

Oh! Yogurt covered pretzels. (yogurt has sugar in it. Once again this counts)

Russian tea cakes. Seriously, have you ever seen then *not* coated in powdered sugar?

Ditto on the candied nuts.

this reminds me of a snack I had recently. It was bacon (extra crispy) glazed with maple syrup and coated in some kind of nuts...walnuts, maybe.

I told the lady who made it that I would like to make it. She turned her head and said, "It's pretty tricky..."

Guess I don't look like someone who could manage

You know, over on this side of the pond we just don't seem to do much salty-sweet. Which is a shame, because I bleedin' love it. Went to America once as a yoof and had maple syrup on my brekkie for the first time - blew my mind away.

Cella - could this be the recipe you had?

Oh also, while I was googling, I found a few others...

Chocolate or yoghurt covered pretzels - we used to have mini ones available over here but they disappeared years ago. And they were so good.

My new treat is dark chocolate coated amaretto cherries. Just got a bagload from Waistrose. Mmmm.

Seriously. I make this appetizer of bacon-wrapped mini-hotdogs, covered in brown sugar. Stick in oven until sugar melts.

Oh. Em. Gee.

Chocolate covered expresso beansQUOTE]

how did I forget these?! I love love love chocolate covered espresso beans, and just regular espresso beans are gross. This is a clear example of something that is better with a sugar coating.

When pigging out on Russian Tea Cakes (Mexican wedding cakes, pecan snowballs, etc.) always remember not to inhale. I love powdered sugar, but it makes for a very unpleasant coughing fit.
