GOOD HIGHLANDER MOVIE! (http://www.slashfilm.com/twilight-scribe-melissa-rosenberg-writing-highlander-remake/)

Or at least, I'm not feeling particularly optimistic about it.

And what are they going to replace Queen with?

Lady Gaga!? Justin Beiber?

Seriously, though, why is it so hard to make a good sequel to Highlander?

Beyond the fact that the first movie was perfect and had a satisfactory ending that closed up all the holes one could imagine.

I ran a long-running Highlander RPG back in the day. Loved that movie, for all its ridiculous cheesiness. I even liked the TV show.

The remake is going to suck haggis.

The remake is going to suck haggis.

We must now wait for Haggis to arrive and see if he's willing to be sucked by this remake. Which I agree will suck.

Oh, FFS. Hey, Hollywood? How about something original???

Or, look, if you really need source material...make me an offer on my books. Any of them. All of them! One big movie mashup of all my books!

Go ahead, Hollywood. I dare you.

I have nothing against remakes, not in concept. I mean, The Thing is one of my favorite movie, and it's a remake. Adaptions and updates and so on, they're all part of the landscape and they have been ever since movies were invented.

I DO have something against remakes that are made because the producers want to squeeze more milk out of a saggy tit! Yeah, money is fine, but at the very least, have an artistic vision of one kind or another! Bring QUALITY to the thing.

Highlander is a neat story. No, it's an awesome story. It can be told well, and it can be told differently. Bring something new to the telling, or explore something that wasn't touched on in the original.

I know that this can be done. But will it?

I doubt it.

I'm late to the discussion, but for the love of Bob, not another remake, especially of Highlander. And may I add, I'm sick of "reimaginings".

I saw the first one and a couple episodes of the TV series and...that was enough for me, then kew.

The original Highlander was fantastic. It was original, had a good cast, and it had a romantic notion of immortals on Earth. But when I saw the sequels... UGH!

The t.v. show didn't do it much justice but it was far better than the movie sequels.

I could write several essays on what Highlander 2 was the most brick stupid film sequel in movie history. Fortunately The Spoony One, internet personality and avowed Highlander fan, has already done it. (http://spoonyexperiment.com/2010/05/20/highlander-2-the-quickening-review-part-1/)

Highlander, The Source. Why did they make that?!?!?!?!

Highlander, The Source. Why did they make that?!?!?!?!

They didn't. You imagined it. We will not speak of this again.
