Well, I apparently live in the land where people love to smack the womenfolk around, which --obvs-- doesn't thrill me. I'd take "oldest" or "nerdiest" any day.

Utah is worst for porn usage. Does that mean they're doing it wrong?

I like how North Dakota had ugliest residents. And they measured that how...?

And many people would say "weakest government influence" is a good thing.

From what I know of this map, it's about a 50-50 mix of fact and dumbass snarkiness. Yes, Mississippi is the state with the highest percentage of obese people, Hawaii has the highest cost of living, Michigan the highest unemployment rate, Iowa the highest percentage of elderly people, Alaska has the highest percentage of suicides. And a few others, based on actual data.

Minnesota sucks because of tornadoes? Complete bullshit (considering Oklahoma and Kansas), which means they couldn't come up with any other reason why Minnesota sucks. Utah tops in "porn usage"? How in Joe Smith's name do you even measure that?

And Maine as "the dumbest" state, and North Dakota as "the ugliest" is just plane lameass nonsense.

Nevertheless, I thought the concept was funny. Too bad the execution couldn't have been better. Surely there's some really measurable thing for which which every state excels in badness.

I think they missed that one, but they weren't far off.

Ever driven through Rhode Island? :D

Well you know why that is. RI was founded by people who left MA:D

On second thought, I think they must have picked MA over RI strictly on the basis of Saint Teddy's driving. ;)

Motorcycle deaths. In VA? Really? Hmmmm....I would think somewhere that doesn't have a helmet law would have more motorcycle deaths than us, like PA.

Actually, Boston, MA has long been the city with the highest car insurance rates in the nation, and those get based pretty much on accident rates. At least that's what it was in the 1980s, and I doubt it's changed much since. I know this, because I lived in New Orleans at the time, the Easy was Number Two in the list, Boston being the only city that exceeded it.
