I'm thrilled and honored to announce that I have accepted representation from Craig Tenney of Harold Ober Associates.

Excuse me, please, while I faint again. Dreams coming true are more overwhelming than I expected!

:e2thud:

Okay, I'm better now.

Thanks and thanks and thanks to the squirrels in Query Letter Hell and to all you AWers who have supported me through this long process! You kept my eyes on the prize and my feet pointed toward the light at the end of the tunnel and every other cliche you can think of.

Onward!

Thanks, everybody! I'm still doing this. :e2thud:

One thing I've learned, after many many months and many many many rejections. When you get one of those forms with a variation on this:

I'm afraid I don't feel passionate enough about your submission to be the champion the book deserves.*

THIS ISN'T JUST A PLATITUDE OR A KIND BRUSH-OFF.

It's one thing to pick up a book you like pretty well at the store. It's another to contract yourself to months of effort on the book's behalf, with no payment if you don't succeed. The agent really has to be excited about a submission, so it's our job to keep slogging away until we find the one who gets what we're doing.

You don't even have to believe to slog, or maybe slogging is the active form of belief. Or maybe I need to get back to work. Oh, yeah, that work thing! ;)

* If you don't have one of these, I have dozens I could lend you. :D

Sorry, Amy, for missing your question before. I guess the log line would be:

"Real magic means real trouble, especially if it involves imperfectly obedient -- and hungry -- familiars."

LOL at OctoberRain's motto. I have such fond memories of the tongue-on-the-lightpost exploit, which we all did as kids.

Warning -- your tongue really will stick! Have some warm alcohol (like a whiskey toddy) ready to release it.
