So, easy question. People from York settle in America, call their new town New York. Coming from Scotland, Nova Scotia, what word would Ukrainians use for "new" in that context?

Right now I am using Hobe Kharkov, would that be acceptable? I don't plan on using Cyrillic lettering.

New York was actually called New Amsterdam when traders settled there and it got the name New York when the British took over. I have found no evidence it was specifically by people from York. (Sorry, I can't help with the actual question)

Hobe looks like you're sort of writing Cyrillic. This gives Noviy Kharkiv, which seems about right (I admit I know Russian rather than Ukrainian).

Noviy looks better to my eye. It would be easier for readers to figure out what it means too, thanks!
