I'm writing a YA novel and I'm reading various books (fiction and non-fiction) to fill in my understanding of the era I'm writing about. Some of the research books I'll be using more than others, but I won't be quoting from any of them.

Should I mention these books in my "thank you" pages of the book? It would only be useful, I think, to give some of my ideas credence, but I'd be OK if all the mistakes were attributed to me.

I'm keeping track of people I'm talking to, and if they permit it I'm mentioning them.

How about if I got information from a person? In my current WIP, I needed information on arson. I actually got to talk to two arson investigators (I *love* facebook) and I'd love to have a way to thank them, or at least acknowledge them, beyond naming minor characters after them. It's not exactly a pressing issue, as this work is far from ready for the query stage, but I did wonder...
