So it's January 1, and like many of us some agents have no doubt been out of the office for the holidays. Does that make this a worse than average time to send queries? I'm picturing an agent coming back to a full inbox and maybe reading faster to try to clear the backlog. Is there any sense in waiting a while, or is this completely irrelevant?

There are already several threads posing the same question.

Most say it's completely irrelevant, just get your query in the pile and wait it out.

Besides, most agents can get a large, large amount of queries a day, so your "waiting a while" until the backlog clears essentially will never happen.

Just go ahead a query (unless the agent is "closed" to submissions)

I sent out a query on the 30th and got an auto response that the office was closed for the holiday and to resubmit when they return on the 3rd (today). I submitted it again this morning and JUST found a nice form rejection in my inbox tonight. Speedy!
