Writing - at least until the Old Man and Hobbit get back from the pub, at which point we shall watch near the knuckle comedy while getting larruped.

My last day larruping too-giving it up for January. I'm going to have to deal with reality! Oh noes! *gibbers*

The Kid (our adult daughter) is coming over for a nice dinner, with wine. We'll watch a movie, perhaps play a board game if I can be lured into it (Mr. Maryn is a tad too competitive for it to be fun for me), and open the champagne about 11:30, so we'll be feeling festive and still have some for a New Year's toast.

Watch Jonathan Creek and polish off the Baileys. At 11:55 I'll head off outside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-Foot) and stand in the fog with lumps of coal and cheese until my wife lets me back in.

Mmm, muffins.

I prefer the sort you eat.

Shut up. Don't say it.

ANYHOO!

I'll be staying in and watching Being Human. Duh. And probably writing. I'll email a few folks to say 'happy new year' then go to bed.

I'm spending the evening at a house party with some of my dearest friends. No doubt we'll manage to stretch dinner to several hours and then watch the apple fall in NYC.

Good times...

I'm going to a friendly local pub where all the regulars go for Hogmanay. If experience is any judge, we'll sit drinking until some one
A) Falls over
B) Throws up
or
C) Falls over and throws up.

Still, at least I've got four days to get over it.

My wife and I are gonna have dinner, sans kids, then see Black Swan.

This evening, Hubby and I will fire up the huge fireplace in our saloon, eat too many munchies, watch the snowstorm, pull out our guitar and banjos and practice and sing in the new year. Can't wait!

We have a party with the wee ones on our agenda - pizza, cookies, popcorn, movies, games, the breaking of the wishbone from Thanksgiving... :D

About the "sans kids", that's what we're hoping for.

Two kids are supposed to go to a party. One is still sleeping right now, but I think he's going out with friends.

Hmm. I planned on playing guitar really loudly for about an hour, from 11.30pm till 12.30am in 2011.

Unfortunately, sis and her boyfriend stayed in, and I don't play when people can hear me. So I wound up watching DVDs half the night (Futurama!) and then sitting on AW to ring in the New Year. Of course, I had my last smoke of the year at 11.54pm. :)

Every year my septuagenarian parents host a black tie party at their Victorian mansion. I am obligated to attend. Tonight I will dress in finery, help my husband figure out which way to point his cumberbund, pay a sitter $60, drink Tanqueray and tonics and flirt with little old men.

As every year, I will be the youngest* person at this shindig.

Happy New Year, everybody.

I just got off a video call with the GF, for whom it's already 2011. I'm now chilling to tunes and settling onto the couch with a few books: one for pleasure and two to brush up for a very exciting phone job interview on Monday *fingers crossed that this will be my year*

Went out to dinner at Olive Garden, using a gift certificate I got for Christmas. Will light a fire on our deck around 11 and drink champagne with my wife.

Washing work clothes for tomorrow. I have to go in at six in the morning. :(
I am enjoying a glass of wine, though. Will probably watch the ball drop. Calling my kids every hour to make sure they aren't doing anything retarded, they're grown, but I still have to make sure that they're safe. Their plans include sleeping over at friends and no driving which makes me feel a lot better. Happy New Years everyone. :)

Looks like I'm hanging out on AW. I stopped by our local NYE celebration, complete with ball drop and live music, but they didn't allow alcohol and a NYE toast simply isn't the same with coffee. So I walked back home so I can enjoy a beer and contemplate the past year. It's all good.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Thirty five minutes left in this (almost completely) sucky year and where am I? At home, on the damn computer with my cats staring at me hopefully like the nom-nom gods are going to deliver yet more canned chicken bounty in this decade.

Away with you, felines! No more noms until 2011~!

*sigh*

I need a beer or something.

I can't get the cork out of my wine bottle! :( I was thinking about posting this in the technical help thread. Ugh, it's bad enough that I'm stuck at home, have to work at six in the morning, and now I can't even drink my wine. :(

My 2010 was average. Some bad aspects of my life got better, some good aspects of my life stayed static, some new bad things occurred. All in all, it was one of my better years. In the past it's usually been more like "Bad things stayed bad, some good things went average, some good things stayed good, more bad things cropped up."

Yeah, I'm a very middling sort of person. Nothing extremely good has ever happened to me, nor nothing so devastating I couldn't move on from it.

I watched 2 flicks with my husband on New Year's Eve--The Panic Room and The Hangover.

Put those 2 titles together and you've got: Hangover in The Panic Room.

Who wants to write that script?

You definitely don't want to have a really bad hangover in a room with no bathroom.

My 2010 was mostly awful. It was a difficult and stressful year that I'll be glad to put behind me.

The evening with friends was lovely. Lots of good food, good wine and good conversation. Watched the countdown in NY and kissed my husband at midnight with a glass of champagne. And made my wish that 2011 will be a better year.

All the best to everyone. I hope the coming year brings success, peace and joy to all.

If I were in a panic room or house with no bathroom, I would definitely panic!

As a matter of fact something like that happened to us in 2010. We had plumbing problems and we couldn't take showers or flush the toilet.

Thank goodness for our neighborhood supermarket which is open long hours every day! (they have a bathroom)
