Since we get "corrected" for derailing threads, I figure we should have one that is completely dedicated to derailing.

So go ahead and make a great argument that has nothing to do with the previous poster. I like derailiation because it's necessary to my post count and I love to go into a totally serious argument where I have no idea what the people are talking about and say "I like turtles"

I give this thread an hour.

Wayne K
12-23-2010, 04:06 AM
I'm 1,280 words into chapter 8. That's 7,200+ for the day.

I'm going for 10K tonight

benbradley
12-23-2010, 08:39 AM
Well, looks like your hour turned into a year and a half.

And yeah, it's just what Wayne feared, getting turned into a "Derailing Part 2" thread.

I so disagree with you and think the best thing for a headache is a dark room with proper ventilation and a soft place to lay down. Works every time for me. But....if the headache continues I think it's best to consult a doctor and get it checked out. Good luck.

Sheesh, looks like derailing got the axe as well, SK is on a spree. Nice new place you got here, Wayne. :D

Caitlin Black

Ooh, finally I can be on page 1 of Derailing! Volume 2? I never heard of such a thing!

So... who else is going to wrap presents for a family pet and put it under the Christmas tree?

*phew* Derail achieved in 2 paragraphs!

LOL, I just wrapped their present (1 each) and addressed it "From Santa". My sister and her boyfriend think I'm totally weird...

Can we get a title change please? I want this thread to be called "The artist formerly known as the Derail thread till Silver King came along wanting to destroy something beautiful"

Yeah, that's be nice

I would like to thank the academy.... and Silver King... for this honor. It's not a lot of threads that make it to the 2.0 phase... it takes a lot of hard work. I'd like to thank Wayne, of course, everybody, give it up for Wayne! And of course, we've got Benbradley over there in his suit, talkin' about the Singularity to Gwyneth - isn't he lovely? We miss Sweetleaf... she's off in New Zealand buying a new house of course, and there are just so many to thank! I'm sure I've forgotten somebody, and of course, I'm just one derailer amongst many! Derailers come and derailers go, of course, but I like to think we've all got a little derailer in us somewhere... and I'm not talkin' about the muppet.....

12.30pm on the 24th here.

11.5 hours till Christmas! (And about 5 minutes until I start drinking...)

Hmm. Well... I've swept up and done some vacuuming. I still need to clean the bathroom. The mop and bucket have disappeared since the last time I used them... and I'm still alone in the house.

I could really use a beer... thankfully I have 3 chilling in the fridge right now! *psssht* Ahh... the opening of a beer is the sweetest sound in the Australian vernacular!

I had fun toward the end of this past week. I don't go out much - my usual day to day is spent in a well carved rut between school and home, with detours to the gas station and after school kid-related stuff.

From the looks on the faces of the people I encountered this week, I surprised just about all of them out of their socks.

Just by waiting to hold the door for the person behind me as I left a place, or holding it open for a person entering a place I'd just left - the looks on their faces ranged from confusion, surprise, relief (that'd be the woman with four little, little kids), to happiness.

Sad, something so taken for granted in most of the country as a common courtesy surprised so many people here in hell.

But it was fun to see their reactions.

night-flyer
12-27-2010, 09:47 AM
Well a lot of people are just rude and forget all about manners this day and age. However when I go to the store usually always someone holds the door open if they are in front of me, from little kids to grown men. And I always hold the door if someone is following behind me, even if it's men or teenagers.

Glad to hear that you got out for a while, did you do anything fun? (besides holding open doors.:)

LaurieD
12-27-2010, 09:55 AM
I'm a door-holder, too - everywhere else I've lived it's just normal to hold the door for someone. Here though... well, there are a lot of reasons why I say Oklahoma is the long was to spell hell.

Did I have fun while I was out? I was shopping with the kiddos for most of it - its often fun to take them shopping if we're not in a hurry and the stores aren't crowded. We were in a bit of a hurry but not a mad rush and we went early enough that we weren't crowded at all. And we ended up being able to skip WalMart - which was truly, truly great. The shopping on my own wasn't so much fun...

night-flyer
12-27-2010, 10:18 AM
WalMart can be hell anytime, but especially aroung the holidays, lucky you for getting to skip it. Glad you had a good time shopping with the kiddos.

I heard the NY/New England area has "blizzard-like" conditions. I'm wondering, when does blizzard-like become an actual blizzard?

It finally quit snowing here last night. 36 hours of continuous snow, though the last 12-24 hours was more flurries than accumulation. The weather map said where I live got 4 inches and the town 30 miles north got 7 inches.

I'm reminded of that Primary School game - "Heads Down, Thumbs Up". Everyone always put their butt in the air with their thumbs. Apparently sticking your head between your knees and the ground automatically makes your butt stick up. *shrug*

Yanno, I was going to write an OJ Simpsonesque book called "If I did it" and find seven unsolved homicides and tell you how I did it Dexter-style. Then tell ya how they deserved to die

I looked on hulu a while back and watched a few Novas - one was on the secret MANNED spy satellite programs by both the US and USSR. The US program never got into space, but the USSR's did. Really interesting history.

I have the opposite problem with my 1st novel... I re-read it and think, "God, can't you take anything seriously, even once?"
