View Full Version : I've got a terrible cold...

I'm not looking for doctor-ly advice. It's a *$&# virus. No cure except time.

I just wanted to make sure everyone else could wallow in my misery.

I recommend rest. Lots and lots of rest.

Take two of these (http://www.drinkseco.com/images/Jack_Daniels_Whiskey.jpg)and call me in the morning

:Hug2:Colds are miserable; you have my sympathies. Cuddle up on the couch with a couple of good books, warm quilts and hot beverages for a day or two. T'wont cure you, but will help you feel better.

A does of Zanafluto should cure the cold.

Side effects include rash, restlessness, pimples, kidney failure, extreme
nose hair growth, fungus in places you don't expect, hair loss, itchy skin,
and an erection lasting more than four hours.

The first two or three days, I didn't even feel like reading.

I clearly wasn't taking enough Nyquil. :)

*Pours some Jack into a 16 oz. cup* :D

Things can't be all bad if there's a cat in your life.

I gotta get away from all these dogs...

Button, I can sympathize. I just got over a terrible cold myself - well, for the most part. The head congestion is gone, which is what makes me the most miserable. I can handle chest congestion, but leave my head alone... can't stand it.

Sending you lots of get better vibes. Colds suck... especially when it goes beyond the little sniffles.

Chicken soup.

I think the worst is when I wake up in the morning. The pain medicine has had time to disappear, so I'm stuck with the horrible stuffy head thing.

Aspirin is working better than the Nyquil, I swear.

And the ew that comes out of my nose! It's so gross.

And then your nose gets raw from all the blowing and the wiping. Even the lotion tissues only do so much.

Drink lots of fluids. Being dehydrated makes everything worse (even hangovers). Drink, drink, drink. Shhhh, I didn't say it.

Get better soon. I hate colds.

12-12-2010, 09:02 PM
Awww! Poor Button. Hope you get better soon. Fluids, fluids, chicken soup--and cute stuff. Like pets, if you have them. Or pictures of pets.

Oh! And positivity. Being positive can help. Or... what do you call it? Imaging? *Believing* you'll get better?

Uh... yeah. Just feel better soon, 'k?

Are ya willing to share your tissues?

The cold I've been holding off for finals has decided to hit me that now that I'm hungover from the company christmas party.

And I just realized that 20 minutes ago I assembled coffee, but forgot to turn the machine on.

I wish I could go back to sleep but the sinus pressure is making it feel like my top teeth are going to be pushed out.

Having a cold makes you stupid.

I burned the grilled cheese I made. Then I got mad and tried to make a bowl of cereal. After I finished cutting up the banana into the bowl, I was reaching up for the box of cereal and the bowl fell into the floor, the banana was lost.

I was so mad I threw the cereal box on the floor in a fury.

I'm on box of tissues number 3 right now. Swapping at my nose, it's like they aren't doing a thing.

Nothing tastes right, either. I can't smell anything.

And yeah, sleeping sucks because once you wake up, it's all painful in your face.

Anything with alcohol will help a little. Hot toddys (http://cocktails.about.com/od/cocktailrecipes/r/httdy_ht.htm)are my suggestion

Urrgh.... sinus congestion. You have my sympathy. I get that without having a cold. Something to do with the air pressure. My head feels full of concrete and everytime I tip my head forward, my brain seems to hit my skull. And I swear someone is trying to push my eyeballs out with their thumbs.

12-13-2010, 02:53 AM
By the way, Jack Daniels in hot water helps to stop the sniffles for a while. Drink as hot as you can stand it.

12-13-2010, 03:06 AM
I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well.

Try tea, honey, lemon, and a healthy dose of Jack Daniels. You can add a dab of pepper as well. My grandmother swore by this remedy.

For me, the worst part of colds is how my nose gets. It makes it impossible to sleep when it's runny or blocked, and no matter how much I blow my nose, it never gets better.

And I hate the hot/cold flashes. Earlier this year (February), Adelaide where I live was going through a heatwave, and I had the flu. I was so bloody hot, but then if I put the airconditioner on, I'd get really cold really fast, even if it wasn't set that low.

*hopes he doesn't get a cold during this coming February's heatwave*

It's impossible for me to sleep whenever I get sick. There's always a ringing noise in my ears and my head feels like it's going to explode! I especially hate it when my eyes begin to get all watery.

It's annoying for me right now because I have Bronchitis and I am coughing like a mad man. I'm taking cough syrup and drinking green tea to help me out. Anything that's warm or hot will help you out since colds are heat sensitive and be sure to get plenty of zinc. It'll help your immune system out.

Hope you get well soon!
