Your help in answering this question would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This question is about the town of Inverness, located about forty miles outside of San Francisco. While my timeframe is 1975, information from any year would be helpful.

If you were staying in Inverness, would it be impossible to get around without a car? Is there any form of public transit? If you needed to get back to the mainland (the closest city I could find was Point Reyes Station) would you be able to make this trip on foot?

Also, any little tidbit of knowledge you have about the culture/personality/local customs of Inverness would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

J,

I've been there, back in the late sixties when I spent a couple years in Vallejo. It was just a wide place in the road then. According to Wiki, it's an unincorporated township, pop 1421 in the 2000 census, so it hasn't grown much since. No public trans, maybe one or two private cabs would be my guess. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverness,_California
