View Full Version : Critique Partner Wanted

After working with three critique partners, I have polished my WIP and would like to find at least one more before I begin the querying process. I am looking for a partner whose WIP is in the same genre (suspense/thriller).

While my skin has thickened significantly over the last six months, I am looking for a serious partner who is truly interested in critiquing, not an undergrad student who simply wants to impress me with their college education. This means someone who respects the basic tenets of my story. (Of course, I will do the same.) I want to know if my story flows well and is interesting and if the characters are engaging and believable. I am a thorough partner, having learned a great deal from my last three experiences. I work fast and will provide all that I am requesting in a partner. If you are interested, please email me at acadia1997@msn.com.

My query is posted below:

He was a good man, a decent man. Thatís what Skylar Karras saw every time he looked in the mirror. Itís what everyone saw when they looked at him. A straight arrow, his brother once called him. But that was before. Before his brotherís accident took the lives of their parents and sister. Before his brother got them both mixed up with San Franciscoís Russian mafia. Before his wifeís identity was compromised, her life, and that of their unborn child, both forfeit in a moment of rage. Then everything changed.

Bitter beyond reason, Skylar macerates in alcohol. Heís driven into madness, his soul eaten away by his need for vengeance. His target is a stranger, the woman who drew his wife recklessly toward her death. He doesn't know her, but heíll find her and when he does, God, how she will pay! But many things happen that Sky doesnít count on, like mistaking the wrong woman for his intended victim.

Now all his plans have gone to hell. Sky, his eyes made clear by the stark reality of his mistake, is now driven, compelled by relentless remorse to make amends, to protect her, keep her safe and out of the hands of the merciless Russians who seek to enslave her. Skyís desperate journey toward redemption is paved with peril as he fights to free his brother from the depraved authority of the Russians. But he canít do it all: save the girl, his brother and his own soul. Someone must make the ultimate sacrifice.

THE MISTAKEN is an 85,000 word thriller and my first novel.

Welcome to AW.

I hope your find someone you're compatible with.

You might want to also mention whether you're only interested in someone who can read and critique the entire work, or are willing to accept someone only reading a few chapters. I know I hesitate to commit to reading an entire unpublished novel and then trying to give useful feedback, but sometimes I do offer to read a few chapters and comment.

By the way, I like your title. It a relatively good one for a thriller/suspense novel.
