As some of you may remember, around April or so I got offers on both my children's book and my YA novel within the same week. Things are going well with the kids' book (which will be coming out from Keene Publishing next year), but a month or so ago I began having second thoughts about the publisher for the YA novel. I had never received a contract, so I withdrew my submission from them and decided to shop it around to other publishers.
The YA novel is intended to be part of a trilogy, and I began work on the second book a while back, but sort of set it on the back burner because I wanted to see what would happen with the first book.
Because I've been so thrilled with the way Keene Publishing is handling my kids book, I asked them if they wanted a peek at the ms for my YA book -- they did, although they encouraged me to send it out to other publishers as well, which I did.
Last week I received an email from the publisher. Not only do they love my YA book, they are interested in publishing the entire trilogy, a book a year beginning in 2007!!
Wheeee!!!
