No, this year I'm going as 'Julia in jeans and a nice top'

Because I don't do Halloween.

Well, last year I was Elvira.

But this year I might be a very large pregnant woman. (Just to give my husband a huge scare!)

... one of the benefits of having a mug like mine is that I don't need to wear a costume on Halloween.

One year I took an old lab coat and squirted 3 shades of red paint onto it, smearing it around and making drips and the such. So I now have a mad-scientist costume - a lab coat that looks like I just decapitated someone with an extra pint of blood in their neck. :D

That's my go-to costume, as I don't have the money to get a new costume every year. Plus, Halloween isn't really popular in Australia, so you either go to a special party, or nothing happens. It's just one of those things. And this year I don't have any parties to go to... :(

Next year I'll be sure to go out to the city to a goth club for Halloween, even if they don't specifically have a Halloween party happening. And I'll probably have money next year, so I can get a new costume.

Question: how high does my hem line have to be to have a costume that screams, "Slut!" ??

Awww, don't be mean to the poor widdle browncoat!

I think it's a very nice costume, Mr. Vowels.

I'm not going as anything, but I am working on a luchador costume for my significant other who has volunteered to take our first grade friend trick or treating. I told her that 34 is too old to actually ask for candy at the door, but I don't think she believes me.

Huh. So they ARE Brown-coats.

Last year I went as a goth chick. And to answer Cliff Face, as short as the one I had on.

This year I'm dressing up as a man-handing-out-candy.

Next year I'm either going to be a mural or a demon-warrior-dude. At least, that's the plan.

This year my friends and I are going all out. Not a fan of the Burton Alice in Wonderland, but like the aesthetic. So I'm doing the White Queen, one friend is doing the Red Queen, and my very tall friend is the Knave of Hearts (she's 6'1"). Another might do the Cheshire Cat, and another will either come with a friend as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee or the White Rabbit if she's flying solo.

Spent a lot of time working on the costumes, but they are so much fun to make and to hang out with friends while doing it!

Did I mention I love Halloween? :)

Awesome costume!

I'll post pics after that weekend :) I'm going as a mime. My little dog will be a winged unicorn, and everyone else will be a surprise to me :D

I love Halloween, too!

Hmm... come to think of it, Halloween might be getting bigger in Australia. Last night I saw an ad for a costume shop selling Halloween stuff.

And yes, that does qualify as "getting bigger in Australia." You wouldn't believe how low on the radar this holiday is over here... yesterday I had 3 people ask me what day Halloween is. I was like "OMGWTF! How can you not know that?!"

But then, it IS my favourite holiday... even if I've only done Halloween stuff maybe 5 times in my 26 years.

Actually, there's meant to be a gathering on Halloween afternoon for my region's NaNo group, and they're planning on dressing up. Maybe I'll have to go? 5 days to decide... hmm.

I only have the one costume of course. :(

We didn't have enough time this year, but next year the Cajun wants us to dress up as Ghostbusters.

I'm a little concerned by the direction that gun is pointing in Rob's image. If his finger were on the trigger, he could easily be mistaken for Suicide Man.

My kids are all abandoning me to pursue non-family festivities this year, so I'm dressing up as couch cushion and renting a bunch of scary movies. I don't even get trick-or-treaters at my house. We live on a dead end and our house is too far from the road. :(

I've been accused of taking awhile to get ready, but I've never taken five whole days! My hat's off to you!

*Ohh why did I do that? I'll take me at least an hour to pin it back on right!*

Hehe!

I guess I could go grab a bed sheet.

I don't think I have any white ones though...

We were gonna dress up as Dog and Beth the Bounty hunters. I even got a small pillow to put under my shirt for a belly...I was gonna wear a really tight belly chain around it to give me a spare tire. Then I was gonna get a 2X american flag t-shirt and cut the neck so it would hang off my shoulder, and of course I'd have to wear leggings with stillettos. Oh, and a cone bra. Alas, our sitter fell through, so no Halloween party for us.

I'm going as an invisible candy snatcher. The smaller the kid the better.

What, I need some candy to hand out next year.

Normally I would find that pretty funny (next year's candy. LOL ewwww stale suckers!), but we had our fall carnival for the school this weekend. We put all the concessions stuff and candy in the school kitchen after school, and when we came back to set up the carnival Saturday morning, someone had stolen the candy.

Seriously, what kind of person would actually do something like that? :(

I just wear my wedding dress every year and go as a bride. Of course after two kids the white isn't fooling anyone. Good thing I can add a tiara and suddenly I'm a princess!

Hubby informed me that I'd been a witch every Halloween since he has known me, and I was "boring", I had to be something else this year. So he picked out a pirate wench costume for me.

I suspect it may have had more to do with the "full coverage" dress I'd been wearing the last few years.

If I do get a picture of my new costume, I'm still not sure I will post it.

Nice!

I'm not going to be able to this year, but my boys (toddler and baby) are going to be lions...
It was either that or:
Bananas (which might be next year...make them all dress as bananas, I'll dress as a crazed person...my family's gone bananas!)
Gangster (toddler) and Million Dollar Baby (money sack)
Prisoner (toddler) and Police Officer (baby)
Chef (toddler) and Food: banana, pizza, Wonder bread, or near anything (Baby)
Or Prisoner and Bag of Money

I had many options and all added up, for the two of them together, on average around 30 give or take...Yay me!

Add wings and you can be an angel, and dress the kids as lil'devils...it'd be cute!

Also
Ice/Snow Queen
With the right accessories, including silver body glitter, or silver/blue
you can certainly pull off anything along this...

Masks (http://www.etsy.com/listing/31866900/autumn-magic-leather-mask-ice-queen)1 Mask2 (http://www.venicemaskedball.co.uk/ice-queen-silver--turquoise-masquerade-eye-mask-1317-p.asp) Mask3 (http://www.etsy.com/listing/16007883/ice-queen-mask) Mask4 (http://www.falconmoon.com/icequeenmask.html) I mean, really, a person could make these or something like it
Ice Queen Crown (http://www.mardigrascostumeshop.com/store/ice-queen-crown-p34619.html)

sceptor, snowflake wands, and whatnot

Or with the right wig, and I suppose a jacket or something depending on the wedding dressyou can be Marie Antoinette.

okay, that's all, for now

Teen agers or creeps coming off meth! That's sad.

My daughter's favorite chocolate chew is Tootsie Rolls. She came to me the day after T-Or-T'ing and handed me the bag of tootsie rolls we got down the street and she told me they were like rocks. I tried one and she was right. They had to be the last years candy if not the year before. The family must have made up a thousand of these filled bags and when they didn't get rid of them the last halloween they must have saved them.
