View Full Version : I'll admit it -- I'm proud

I wasn't going to post this; it didn't seem like a big enough deal. But hey -- it's actually a bit of a milestone for me.

On Tuesday, my story was accepted by KidVisions (http://samsdotpublishing.com/kids/kissescover.htm). The pay is only $2.00 (every little bit helps . . .), but what kicks me is that this is the first genre story I've sold. I mostly write horror, but the two stories I've had published before this one were smoking fiction -- a true niche market, and not the place to build a career.

That I can write a publishable children's story (a horror story, no less) -- something I had never attempted before -- is genuinely heartening; I feel I really can do whatever I set my mind to, and take myself and my writing wherever I want to go.

The story is called "The Back Window" and will probably appear in the December issue.

My one regret is that, in my haste to submit, I forgot to give the story to my little brother until just the other day.

His opinion is pending.
