Hi, I missed you too. Like the actress who won the Razzie and Best Actress Oscar within two days of each other, this year's recipient for physics' highest honor, the Nobel, has a less than astounding resume - one of the winning duo received the Ignobel in 2000! Slashdot has the scoop. The better link to the flying frog is this one.

What do you think? I feel it shows how pursuing junk science instills a strong logic and analytical foundation, and become a proving ground for young scientists to tackle bigger and harder issues through their careers. And it shows anyone can overcome an undignified past (starlets of all ages, take heed ;)).

The Ig Nobel Prize isn't given to scientists for bad or junk science. To quote the creators: "The Ig Nobel Prizes honor achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think".
Sooner or later, there'll be some funny research that's significant enough to earn the involved people an Ig Nobel and regular Nobel Prize for the same work.
