Or for reenacting a sports training montage from your favorite movie, or biking, rowing, salsa dancing, whatever? I'm looking for a new playlist! I don't like techno/house music that much. I'd rather listen to something with sustained energetic singing (or shouting). Lately I've been into:

TIA by K'Naan
Wavin' Flag by K'Naan (the album version of the Soccer World Cup song)
Treme Song by John Boutte
We Are Golden by Mika
Don't Stop Me Now by Queen
The Power Is On by The Go! Team
Wizards In Winter and Queen of the Winter's Night by Trans Siberian Orchestra (I know it's kinda stupid, and christmasy, but I love it!)

My energy music consists pretty much entirely of 80s arena rock. Aerosmith, Yes, Rush, Queen, the Stones, Led Zep, like that.

Although I'm proud to say I did wean myself of having to have music and it's been really great for two reasons. One, workout time is think-time for the novel du jour, and two, when I'm really unmotivated, I can use music to provide the energy I don't have.

Maryn, chubby nevertheless

Springsteen's "Born to Run"

Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition"

The National's "Bloodbuzz Ohio"

Ting Tings "That's Not My Name"

Awesome! Will have to check those out. Haven't heard of most of them except The Killers (awesome!) and Florence and the Machine (double awesome!).

I don't run, I walk.

The only music is in my head.

I run 15 hours a week on the treadmill at the gym. I don't have a play list, but I love listening to the music coming from the aerobics room, because it's upbeat and fun and FAST! If that music is not going, then I listen to whatever news is on one of the overhead TV's.

OMG...just thought about it...but I listen to four straight Froo Froos songs too...also, some Tom Waits and James Morrison for cool down

(plus, the all time greatest work out song...ACDC's "You Shook Me All Night Long"....if that song doesn't get you moving somehow, there is a problem)

Haha, I'm one of those people that have trouble keeping up with jogging (I don't run because I have knee problems) or even using the elliptical! Some songs that really keep me going are...

Iron Maiden = Where the Wild Wind Blows, Coming Home, Blood Brothers, The Talisman, Starblind, Hallowed be thy name, The Trooper

3 = Alien Angel, Automobile, You've Been Shot, The End is Begun

Nevermore = The Heart Collector, She Comes in Colors, Enemies of Reality

Iced Earth = Phantom of the Opera Ghost

Judas Priest = Hell Patrol

Megumi Hayashibara = Plenty of Grit and Breeze (from the Slayers anime series)

to name a few, I'd have to go back and look at my iPod for other songs.

So basically I like any music that has a good beat that keeps me going, and/or powerful music/lyrics...really gets me in the mood to keep going. Some of the songs I mentioned above have such epic sounding guitar parts too, extremely inspirational for running!

I only run when the po po is chasing me. I guess the theme from Hawaii 5-O would be appropriate

I really like Scream by Timbaland.

It's not that I'm such a fan of ol' timbarific mctimbasons, as such, but that the rhythm is great for running. And there's one point where you can hear them breathing in and out, and it's great to use it to regulate your own pace, haha!
