Sometimes a book idea is sparked by a particularly intriguing headline.

But in the day of the cable news bottom-of-the-screen scrawl, the possibilities are endless. See, they only provide a snippet, with no context whatsoever. I think an entire book of short stories ideas could be gleaned from them.

For example, a few days ago, a CNN scrawl provided this:

"Man in Hong Kong arrested by police, then given bicycle."

That was it. Imagine the possibilities.

"Village becomes lab for curing Africa's problems"

ETA: Not that I'd describe them as intriguing, but the National Enquirer's headlines would make for some freaky short stories!

"Octo-Mom Going on Welfare"
"Team Mom Boozy Brawl"
"Glambert Pap Attack!"
:D
