I've been playing with the idea of putting together a children's book that consists of Native American stories, poems, prayers, etc. for the Earth. Can I even do that? Most of the book would consist of things I didn't write.
This is something dear to my heart for a couple of reasons, and I would love to do a book about it. However, I'm concerned that it may not be something that appeals to editors/agents. This would require a lot of research, since I would have to contact NA organizations to get the texts and the permission to use them. I don't want to jump into something that requires so much work if I won't be able to find a home for it afterward.
Opinions?
Thanks.
