Between there and there
A banjo is constructed from wood. So is a bat. Why would you NOT use it for self-defense?
And a frying pan is a sheet of cast iron.

What exactly is silly here?

The word "banjo" and the situation that would bring two combatants together in possession of such weapons.

Perhaps this happened at the Overland Park Chili Cook and Hoe-Down?

Often lost within my own mind.
It reminds me of some of the old cartoons or something. But yeah, it's not every day someone just 'happens to have' a banjo on hand to use for a situation like this. Or real stories of people attacking with a frying pan for that matter.

Nowhere. Now here.
Overland Park is not exactly the KC suburb most known for being banjo territory. In fact, I'd say between it and Shawnee, these are the least likely place to expect banjos.

Another one of those "real life gets all the breaks" stories.
