I read that article. It's pretty cool, but it doesn't really address the basic problems of terraforming, which involve atmospheric conditions more than throwing down plant life.

Yeah, its pretty much terraforming in quotes. More like microclimate modification, which is something you can do with raised beds and such things as chinampas.
