Pleased as Punch! Poem Honoured...

I think I announced this already a few months ago when I found out, but today my poem WHEN VENUS TAKES A RIDE is posted by the Parliamentary Poet Laureate of Canada as The Poem of the Month.

I wrote the poem the evening of my arrival to Lamu, Kenya. We had a walking tour of Lamu Town that day, and the poem is a retelling of an event that took place during that walking tour.

YES! This is the magical poem...the one that was submitted to several places...all poems submitted with it were accepted. but it never was. then the Poet Laureate of Canada chose it!
