I hit 50k last month. The plan this month is to hit 70k.

This means I'll have to double my output, but hey, the imminent loss of my UI is a great motivator!

2. Finish the initial exploration of my nonfiction book idea reach the point where I'm ready to make a decision to commit to it or give it up

Well, while the latest novel draft cools off (Revision start date: Oct. 4), I will declare September Short Story month! Squeezed a couple of flash fics into the end of August. Will aim for at least four more shorts by the end of September. And lots of research reading for the next novel.

My goals for September:

1. Finish final draft of my July marathon novel.
2. Write a play on the 24th that will be produced on the 25th for a celebration of the arts festival.

Little1's ambitious, we'll give her that! :)

my goal is to blitz the agent world with my first mystery - and of course I hope to grab an agent!

next...I'd like to write at least 10-15k words in my current WIP. Now, although my OCD side says piece of cake, my realistic side says, wait a minute...I'd also like to edit my 3rd mystery.

so there you have it lol

1. Calm down. It's been a very exciting week.

2. Take a week away from computer.

3. Get back into character notes for the next book, and re-start the background reading. But the end of Sept I'd like to have read all the texts on my desk, have enough of the two main characters strong enough in my mind that I can hear their voices at least intermittently, and have opened a file on the stories that they have lived through. No more than that - must remember that this book will go much more quickly if I don't rush at it before it's ready to be written.

And note to self - the humour thing is always the last part to come. Don't try to push it - it will be there somewhere. Let them discover it.

2. Begin rewrite of WIP. Draft 1 is really more like Draft 0, so I need to get this brain vomit into some sort of coherent order.

September Goals:

I'm currently working on my entry for The Terry Pratchett Prize (http://www.terrypratchett.co.uk/news/termsandconditions.html) which has a finish date of 31st December.

So far I'm just over 25,000 words and the min limit is 80,000. Working on 1,000 minimum a day + editing I'm looking to get the finished story emailed off early in December.

By target for September is to get past 50,000 words.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hit 40,000 words for 'Numbered' today! I am so happy and so blessed to be at this point. All of the countless hours of research and editing and late nights typing until my knuckles hurt has paid off! It's down hill from here. I can't believe it. Thank you Jesus!

Wrote my goals up a couple of days ago, but here they are now...

Write 2,000 words of fresh fiction.Iíve been trying to work on some various projects, my novella, a new short story etc. and not getting down any of it. Itís kind of disappointing. I have been doing new poetry but some fiction words would be nice this month, regardless of what project itís toward.
Edit Playing with the Big Boys and submit to critique group.I need to bite the bullet and do it now. My experience working with Jodi on Somewhere to Pray has left me a bit confident with editing actually and curious to try out some new skills on this short one last time before sending it to be critiqued.
Submit 10 pieces of writing. And here I thought I wasnít going to set any big goals this month. This one came up on Twitter under the hashtag Ď#10bythení (http://littlegirlwithabigpen.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/10bythen/) and the aim is to submit 10 pieces by October 1. A little bit of insane group goal setting may pull me out of this funk.
Read a novel in a month (cultural goal)10 pages from the end of The City and The City and I want to pick up my reading pace. The next novel will probably be Kalinda Ashtonís The Danger Game. Damn, two crazy goals.
Research Homophobia in Colonial Australia (Political Research Goal). This was a goal last month but seeing as I didnít do it, except gather some material, I want to get this done.
Discuss Politics and Fiction.Vague goal, I know but I think this will be the theme for a bit on this blog, tackling these topics. There might be some interviews or guest posts, questions, thoughts of my own. Iíll still finish up the Ďwriting lifestylesí series as well.

hmmm - goals...hmmmm

Must work the edits on my proposal, so this puppy can get out on sub in October. I should be able to kick this out over the weekend - but I know more edits will follow.

I'm too excited to look at this than nothing less than the next important step in reaching my dream to be published.

Managed to get to #3 on Sunday night, so all September goals are completed! I'm currently in the middle of vacation. One night in a hotel with internet access before I head back to the wilds without electricity, let alone wifi.

Congratulations to all of you who've completed all or part of your goals for the month.

And best of luck to everyone on getting your work done!

Had a slight stall in my September goal, I was aiming for 50,000 but managed to write myself into a corner and had to do some tinkering with several characters backstories to get out of it.

Still I managed 30,000 which I'm happy with, my deadline of December 31st is still doable.
