It's wholly possible to read without backstory; I promise. I wouldn't be posting this if I didn't think it was. It's 825 words, by the by, so not too time consuming. Four people go into a razed town (two have virtually no speaking role), they find a gory message, and my MC ponders an idea.

The scene itself is an important one in the novel, but it's come out with a bizarre flow and an idea the reader is supposed to pick up on might not be picked up on from the dialog. But I'm stuck on how to fix it. :Headbang: Anyone willing to help will be loved.

The genre in question is that of a YA high fantasy. Again, backstory isn't really needed for this scene, but if you must have it, I can summarize.

You don't need our permission--you can simply post it in the Share Your Work (http://absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=168) section of the forums. The password is vista.

Now I feel dumb . . .
No need to. This is a big and somewhat complex forum. It takes a while to find your way around.
