Minors and weed in NY

I have a friend who found quite a bit of pot in her child's dresser. I'm not from NY state, just live here now, and I've never had to deal with any drug charges.

The child is on probation for another crime. The amount of pot in his dresser? Enough to fill 40 to 50 'dime bags'. He's definitely selling--has been coming home with money and buying a lot of things.

Anyone know about the charges for a 16 year old on probation in NY?

Actually, nevermind. They don't do anything, just heard from the mom after the cops left. :-(
