If a cop is convicted of planting/tampering with evidence...

They wouldn't be reopened but the convicted parties would have a big opening for filing an appeal and there's a good chance that the convictions will be overturned if the evidence collected or handled by that cop was essential to the case.

I would think that each case would have to be evaluated under an appeal. The same rules of evidence and reasonable doubt would have to be satisfied. The conviction of tampering with evidence on one case would not be an indicator of wrongdoing for other cases. Otherwise, we would never need to retry a convicted burglar for a new theft. Just put him away with no trial since he was proven guilty before.
