I'm looking for things that run in fours. For example: the cardinal directions (north, south, east, west), classic elements (water, fire, air, earth), card suits (cups, swords, pentacles, rods). Anything like that.

Please to help? :3

I've always heard that it happens in threes, but one nursing home that I worked at said that their deaths seemed to happen in fours.

Not a very cheerful thought, but sometimes it happens.

A standard bass guitar has four strings, and they are tuned in fourths (five semitones apart).
This is also the same tuning of a string bass, upright bass, double bass or bass violin (wish they'd come up with a single name for that thing),

A string quartet "runs in fours" - it includes four instruments of four strings each, none of which is a double bass (a string quartet is two violins, a cello, and a viola to keep the fire going).

Things that don't necessarily "run in fours" but are mathematically related to the number four:

Tetrahedron - one of the (uh, five) regular polyhedra. A tetrahedron has four sides and four points.

Quadrilateral - a polygon with four sides and four corners.

Four is the first square number (other than the unit 1). Not only is it equal to two plus two and two times two, it is also two to the power of two.

Is that the same as the four forces? I can name them: strong nuclear, weak nuclear, electromagnetic and gravity. Something like that.

And while we're getting really technical, there's the Four Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

All three of Raindrops' were my first thoughts.

Also, there are four quarters in most timed sporting events. Football, basketball, soccer.

Lawyer's charge on the quarter hour, I believe. So, an hour's time of legal advice is four quarter hours. Each billed individually.

Now that Pluto's not a planet, she and her three moons are a foursome of something. I don't think that counts, tho.

Good luck!
