I'm looking for references (books preferred, websites welcomed) on details of how a criminal trial (murder) would unfold. I haven't decided if the venue would be the English countryside or American, so I'm open to references to either one.

My Googlefu is weak, but I haven't found much besides generalities. I'm hoping that someone might know of a transcript or something for detailed and specific. I don't want to default to "it's just like it is today" unless that's really the case.

Thanks so much!

As much as SparkNotes makes me froth at the mouth, try checking them out for the trials in Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities and Bleak House (not the Chancery trial part).

Thanks, both of you!

It's been a while since I've read Dickens. Guess I have a great excuse to reread. :D
