Quick question: do crickets chirp in September?

I'll let you know next month.

Honestly I think it depends how warm it is outside/where you are.

I'm going to go with yes.

At least NE USA-wise

It depends on the temperature and the species.

Are there no crickets in Long Island? I'd miss their songs.

Oh, there are. I just don't remember whether or not they sing in September. ^_^ Although, now that I think of it, the book that I'm writing will take at least another month for the first draft, by which point I'll be able to observe the answer.

Unfortunately, if temperature matters, it might be irrelevant, since the book takes place in either upstate NY or New England.

Ah, hell with it. Do it now, revise/justify later...

They do here in Ohio until it starts getting chilly in October, if I remember correctly from last summer.

They chirp year-round at the zoo.
