Hi guys,

I'd really appreciate any input on this. I won a 10-page critique from an agent in a recent contest thingy. I sent the pages without a query, since that wasn't specified. Said agent wrote back requesting more pages, "along with a synopsis and brief summary of what the book is about."

My question - what is the difference between a synopsis and a brief summary of what the book is about? What do I send?

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'd send a two-three page synopsis and a query letter. It sounds like the agent is asking for both. They can read whatever they want and ignore the rest.

Congrats on the request!

P.S. Did anyone else read this thread title and think of the Double Rainbow song from YouTube? :)

A synopsis is at least 1000 words and a brief summary is a paragraph.

A synopsis is usually 2 pages, and tells EVERYTHING in a less suspenseful manner. A brief summary is kind of like a book jacket blurb.
