For me it's doll making in particular and sewing in general, or even shopping for sewing supplies. There's something very calming about sewing and I find it's a great way to rest the mind after a long writing session or a frustrating battle with writer's block or even one of those stressful days when the world's turned against you.

But while I was working on my latest doll project, my wandering mind headed over here and I wondered, what do you all use to relax and wind down after a tough writing session?

;) Maybe I can use you all as encouragement to find a hobby that doesn't result in bleeding fingers.

I enjoy sidoku and reading...lots of reading :)

But, if I am trying to find something tactile like sewing (which I also enjoy)...I enjoy baking and jogging to clear the head...sounds boring but it really seems to help :)

Books, music, podcasts, computer games. Not necessarily in that order. ;)

Come to think of it, reading and writing is about all I do.

I need a hobby.

No, not that one. I'd never get away with it in public.

Reading, crocheting, chatting with friends, favorite coffee place, a bit of killing people in video games, my cat purring on my lap. Standard, boring stuff but I like it.

Nothing wrong with cats purring on your lap. Unless it's my mother's cat, which is currently sitting and purring on my foot and eying my throat in a rather disturbing way.

I've two cats of my own. One's a lap cat, the other is young enough to believe he must be the centre of my attention at all times and so isn't much help in relaxing.

Crocheting, hmm? Not a skill I've tried, though I admire those who can do it. I have, oh, a couple of dozen half knitted scarves that I either lost interrest in or messed up, so I suspect any attempt I made at crocheting would meet a similar fate. :) As much as I love to sew, patence is not a virtue of mine.

I only do single-crochet, nothing really fancy with the stitches. However, I do switch out colors to make Celtic knotwork designs, which keeps it interesting. I taught myself how to do it, so it can't be that hard.

I'm still impressed Deleyan. And skeptical of the likelihood I'd be capable of even simple stitches.

I think when it comes to craft, I better stick to stabbing my fingers with needles and bashing them on keyboards.

bubble bath and wine. I would like pedicures if I wasn't so ticklish.

I relax by creating sockpuppets, then pestering people on AW.
....AND...getting people talking about how wasted they've been... come on, tell the whole story, Rob
