How do I search for a key word?

I try to use the "search" at the bottom of the page, and I just get the same results as I would with Google. Then I try the "Search" at the top bar and my key word just generates random forum posts that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if a publisher has an existing thread on the BR&BC thread so I don't create a duplicate.

Do an Advanced Search for the name, selecting only the Backgrounds forum to search.

Yup, and once in the Index thread, just use the "Find on page ..." function of your browser (Ctrl+F, usually) to hit on occurrences of a name/keyword.
