Texas Oil Baron Is Promoting Solar Energy

By TODD WOODY

Published: July 13, 2010

Larry Hagman, the actor who played the scheming Texas oilman on the long-running (1978-1991) television show “Dallas,” is reprising his role as J. R. in an advertising campaign to promote solar energy and SolarWorld, a German photovoltaic module maker.

There used to be a Friday night soap called Dallas and JR Ewing was one of the lead characters. He was a sleazy oil tycoon. At the end of the 1980 season, he was shot by an unknown person and that whole summer was all about "Who shot JR."

Man... I miss Dallas.

Now, Larry Hagman has the scariest eyebrows in television. :D

I feel backward now (Dallas was still showing here when I was a kid... and I am contemporary with Zoombie!)

What a great ad! Shine, baby, Shine!

I LOVED Dallas. I used to watch it in Germany in the 90's - a rerun, dubbed into German! I missed several episodes, though. I'd love to watch it from the beginning. I adored Bobby!

For a bit of nostalgia: Dallas Intro.
