I have had a website for years for my pottery studio but never got much business from it. I mostly receive emails from amatures and college kids asking how I do this and that, what type of kiln I use and so on.

How much success have any of you experienced, and is it really necessary to have a website? Did you create one before your book was published? Or do you have one without being published to showcase small bits of your work?

I post reviews and get hits-to-publisher. I think a site is useful to most authors--particularly vital to me as an e-published authors as ebooks are mainly sold via online promotion. But if you have an online vendor it should help with any type of book.
