Military and security experts -- watchman hears a noise
Hi, gang. Here's the situation:
We're in primitive times, and there is no electronic communication between watchmen. The Palace, for various reasons, is located on the very border of the land. It's night time, and one of the Palace Guards on watch hears movement and voices at a distance -- and there is no legitimate reason for anyone to be out there, AND some as-yet-unidentified party recently ambushed and killed two Palace Guards. Does the Guard on watch go out there and investigate, leaving his post momentarily unguarded? Or does he stick at his post no matter what?
The thing is, I'm trying to figure out how a detainee can escape through a Palace window when the Palace perimeter should have been guarded. (The King ordered the detainee to be transferred from the dungeon to the nice room with the window in a moment of weakness.)
Thanks for your expertise. I love thinking about these things, but dang I'm iggerant.
