View Full Version : please help me figure out what movie this is...

Okay, I googled this and Yahoo answers came up with someone who asked the same question describing the same movie, but the answer given did NOT match the movie I'm looking for. It was in the horror genre. Here's what I remember from the scene,

A girl is in an old farmhouse or vacant warehouse or something. It's creepy, she's walking around and gets startled when someone enters, but it turns out to be her boyfriend. He gives her a necklace for her bday. Her father shows up and makes her get in the car and leave. But then he starts talking crazy stuff about how he can't let her turn 18 because she will be cursed. The father starts driving like a crazy person and then crashes the car in an attempt to kill himself and his daughter.

I have googled this, tried to find it on Youtube and I saw it over a year ago but now I can't find it anywhere. Any idea what this was/is? The suggestion I saw is The Haunting of Molly Hartley, but when I watch the trailer for that movie, it's not the same. The story doesn't even seem the same, but I'm wondering if it was a special clip they had and then removed. Please help me out here. When I saw the trailer for this mystery movie, I felt it was a movie I would really want to see, but now I can't find the damn thing ANYWHERE.

Ouch. You just described about 50 horror movie plots. Do you recall what era / decade it was from?

I think it is Molly Hartley. I remember the scene with her father and it definitely was connected with her 18th birthday, etc etc

The film begins with a teenage girl (Jessica Lowndes) going into the woods to meet her boyfriend. He gives her an early birthday present, but her father shows up and demands that she leave with him. As they drive home she tells him that she will be marrying her boyfriend as soon as she turns eighteen. He breaks down and apologizes to her before crashing their car. Seeing that she is not dead, he kills her with a broken piece of mirror, saying he couldn't let the darkness take her. The film then switches to present day, and Molly's story.

definitely Molly Hartley...
