Is it just me? or my family? or have they bought into the hype? Or are Dad’s just easy? I mean seriously, a nice card with something in it: copious amounts of cash or even a gift card to a filling station, and my Dad’s just giddy. Mom on the other hand, doesn’t matter what gift she gets there’s always the same caveat of “Awe thanks hun, but you know what I really want? Have you met a nice boy yet? Any prospective son-in-laws on the horizon? Couldn’t you just get me a grand child?” Am I alone in this, or are Dad’s just easy?

Nothing says "I love you" like a reciprocating saw.

Well, both parents - darling eggplants that they were - are in the ground now, so gift-giving is either very easy (none-to-flowers) or very difficult (where to deliver???)

But they both loved anything from their children. Anything - weed-bouquets, peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast, oddities from woodshop, hoemade unidentifiables used as paperweights, macaroni jewelry, you name it. They made being their offspring something wonderful and joyous, and - yes - easy.

I strongly disagree.

I think Orlando Bloom is a stand up dude, and if he were on my side in a barroom brawl, I honestly think we'd make a good team.

Dad's are definitely easier. Mine always says, "Just call me. All I want is to hear that you're happy." But he's in Australia and it's not Father's Day there until September.

I'm very easy - just don't put apostrophes in plural nouns, and I'm over the moon. :D

But really, I think "easy" is the wrong term -- if Dad's happy with any expression of love, is that a bad thing? It says he puts a high value on the relationship, not on the gift. No amount of cash or gift certificates to music shops will ever compare to a homemade card, a hug and an "I love you, Daddy" from my kids. I'm aware every day that time marches on, and I'll never have this time back.

I sent my Dad a card with a picture of a monkey on it, congratulated him for producing such wonderful offspring and then sat back because my work was done.

I guess if I had kids I'd be exactly the same.

But, to be honest, that's irrelevant. I think we're all missing the important question here, which is this: When's Kelly going to bring a nice young man home?

(And what did she do with all the other ones?)

So, what you're suggesting is
that after me, they're never nice again?
Is that what I'm getting here? :D

Difficult to say, what with them never being seen again.
