It’s the end of vet school as I know it.
(Sung to REM’s It’s the end of the world as we know it)
It’s here, an end to slave labor
Dogs and cats, plus ungulates
Vet students must learn them all
Knocked round by raging docs, ignore how your knees burn
School serves its own needs, gotta mind patients' needs
Get the special feed, walk dogs, no time.
No doctor to help, find your own way around, good luck
ICU, Pathology, scatter around for Major Med
Surgeons despise us all and clinics are such a drag
I wasn’t working fast enough with the
Interns breathing down my neck
Day by day poor students fight hard, query, shot down, quake
Which drug should we use? Don’t know
Ut oh, patient sick and this time steroids won’t do.
But you’ll learn, look it up, cite a source
Take the vet med Boards, whole day of misery
Letter comes, says you passed, addresses you as Doctor!
Finish clinics, head high, nothing to stop me now, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched.
It’s the end of vet school as I know it
It’s the end of vet school as I know it
It’s the end of vet school as I know it
And I feel fine.
I have completed all my coursework for vet school, passed my Boards in April, and as soon as the diploma comes in the mail (not till August, boo) I can put DVM after my name.
I'm pretty stoked It's been a long long road, and now I'm free to do what I want to do, not what school says I must do.
Cheers,
(oh yes I did)
PS- I promise the music at this party won't be as bad as the first song, lol
