i have been working on revisions with an agent who i have not signed with. (not a revise and resub but an actual, "let's work on this." - he tends to work with new authors shaping their manuscripts for months, then signs them at the end, if and when he thinks the book is ready to sub.)

when i got the first call (and in subsequent emails), he asked that i keep him posted of any developments on my end.
i assumed this meant just let him know if one of the other agents with a full made an offer, but i'm wondering if he'd also like to know now that they've all passed.

i don't want to pester him with unnecessary emails, but i also don't want to be holding back if that's information he would like to know.

thoughts?

He was only interested in agents who showed interest. You're right not to let him know the others have passed. And good luck!!!!

This shouldn't affect his decision at all, so don't bother

I'd just focus on the future. Keep pressing forward with working with him.

I agree with the consensus. He was looking to know right away if someone made an offer so that he could compete (or not spend any more time on it). I don't think there's anything wrong with not emailing him that others have passed. If he asks you directly then you certainly have to tell the truth, but I wouldn't worry about offering anything up.

Good luck!
