French help please

If your MC can read it, won't he just translate it in his head?

(I only know enough French to order dinner and get directions)

I only know a few words of French, but I'm visiting Paris right now so I feel entitled to post!! The word for news is: actualités and I also have seen actualités du jour (daily news). That's how far I've got.

Perhaps "édition spéciale" would be more breaking than "actualities". French man sitting next to me says so, but someone will no doubt come along from Canada and tell me he's wrong (comme d'hab). :O)
