Hi,

Did the Torah or the bible mention the cursed city of Thumod?

If, Yes what did it say?

No matches at bible.com for any of the major translations.

No matches at wikipaedia.

No matches on the first ten pages of google.

I don't recall it from my reading of the bible.

Where did you hear this curious word?

Oh, I think I wrote it wrongly. it will be as Summonere said " Thamud "

and it is in Our culture as story and in the Quran also!

about blessed people with great wealth (for that reason they built such

wonderful houses in the mountains) , yet they were very arrogant and

they oppressed the poor

any way I thought I may find some information in Torah and bible.

Thank you for your help ...

Do you mean Thumod, or Thamud?

I think you want the latter, which is in the Koran. You'll find a version of the story here:
http://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/196505/the.miracle.of.the.camel.htm

And a longer version here:
http://arthursclassicnovels.com/prophets/story-of-hud-salih.html

This is a version of "believe me and my god or you pagans/infidels/idolaters/etc. will die" story, and it involves a camel.

Yes thank you , I know about the Quran's version of the story but I

wonder if I will have more information in Bible or Torah because it

happened before Jesus and as you can see their ruin stand there

telling a story! And i want to find more information about that because

I am writing a story about hidden city (the same goes with the cursed city which few

people heard about it and another ruin which the government didn't make it puplic )

Can't help you, there, as I've read neither one. Sorry. Good luck.

I looked for something like what you're talking about in the Old Testament but can't find anything that fits all the parameters. But there are lots of curses on different cities and peoples especially in Isaiah, most are because the people are arrogant prideful and oppressing the poor and needy. The people of Moab come as close as any i found to fitting your description.

The fallen city or the cursed city is a common trope or notion in many mythologies.

In the Torah, the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah and Babylon are all destroyed because of the bad behavior of their inhabitants.
In Breton legend, it was the city of Ys, and it was drowned by the sea.
Of course, the same happens to the city of Atlantis.

In fact, the "lost cities" idea is so common that there is an entry on it in Wikipedia. Check it out.
