Advice to a Yankee Moving South

South = Slow and friendly


I've come to expect speedy people - drivers, waiters, employees. I can tolerate a little abruptness/discourtesy if you are moving at the right pace. There's no amount of Southern charm that can make up for being slow.

GL to you! My plans for moving south fell apart when none of my leads panned out. Be sure to give NJ the finger on your way out!

The food is INCREDIBLE. Smothered, covered...yum. Oh lordy, I've got a severe hankering for some smothered and covered hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, and anything else deep-fried I can get my hands on.

Heh. I will forevermore use the term "Catfisting" at every inappropriate occasion.

Expect more courtesy. Southern charm and hospitality isn't a myth; you'll most likely find that us southern folk are very friendly. And as for all the stupid southern stereotypes, leave them at the door or face the dixie wrath.

Oh, and accents of course. That will probably take some getting used to I for one don't have much of a southern drawl, but when I spoke to some guy over the phone once who lived up north he thought I sounded really country. He thought it was cute, but I disagreed entirely
