Don't they drive you nuts? Writers or other artists who are considered gods of their form, and they make your eyes and ears bleed. Professional jealousy exists, but that doesn't mean we can't legitimately call out a few overrated hacks!

Evil Editor harps about John Grisham. There's some harping going on here about James Cameron.

I tried to read JK Rowling and gave up. Watched the movies to see if they came out better. Didn't; they were the same episodic messes as the books. There, I said it.

Who's driving you nuts?

While I agree with Ben, I have to take this opportunity:

Nora Roberts.

Tom Robbins.
But! But! Another Roadside Attraction!

(or maybe I should try reading it again now that I'm not 16 and stoned?)

But! But! Another Roadside Attraction!

Gag.

I'm now going to piss off more people:

Herman Melville. Orson Scott Card.

This seems to be the topic of a new thread about every quarter.

Actually, it pretty much IS writerly jealousy. 'I didn't like it' doesn't mean jack-squat. Someone else did. Someone else does. Lots of someone elses, if the books sell a lot. One person's trash is another person's treasure. What you like someone else doesn't. So what? Deal.

This. We aren't going here again. A thread to call out who we think is overrated always turns into a flame war. Respect your fellow writer extends to the famous and the infamous.
