A lot of times these days movie posters seem like an afterthought compared trailers and commercials. Just throw the stars on there, throw up a title and tagline and let it be. Some posters still stand out as awesome for one reason or another though. This poster...

...put this movie on the map for me. Didn't even know it existed, and my interest has immediately gone from zero to "Give me a release date, dammit!"

Got me thinking about other classic movie posters, like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre poster...

...and the Star Wars movie poster.

Eli Roth? Ew!

Also, I'm a huge fan of the anything by Drew Struzan.

Which is, fortunately, most of them.

Eli Roth? Ew!

He's only producing. That may or may not mean anything significant in relation to how the film ultimately comes out.

And seconding SF's mention of "The Graduate." Great poster indeed.

Bah. Bah humbug, I say.

There are a few people in the industry that I won't even touch with a twelve foot clown pole. Eli Roth is one of them. Oh, and Michal Bay.

I have my walls festooned with various movie posters, from Jurassic Park to Star Wars to Blade Runner (heck, even the original, animated Transformers movie).

Among my favorites? Blade Runner (but that's mostly my attachment to the movie), Unforgiven, and the promo poster - not the actual movie poster but the promo - to The Crow: City of Angels. It's very understated, just a skeletal crow and the tag line from the film, but it works.

... wish I had the one from Alien, though. :e2bummed:

The Brazil poster would be good if only the movie weren't such an awful, pointless clusterfuck.

I always thought The Exorcist had a very understated, darkly creepy kind of one sheet:

And I thought Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was freaking epic (But where's Bones?):

Toy Story 3 has all the characters and is also clever, with the 'ANDY' shoe, too.
