Is there a name for the rounded arch you see in Moorish architecture?

What I need is the arabic/moorish word for a rounded arch or lintel.

I don't know the Arabic word for it (just the common terms of round or Roman arch). Maybe someone else will come along with that information. If not, I have a lot of architectural books (I was a former arch student); I'll look it up if I can.

I mostly just wanted to point out that in addition to the round arch, they often used what is called a horseshoe arch. It's similar to a round arch but curves around a little more creating a sort of "leg" or angle to the bottom of the arch.

I should know this, after all I studied architecture for a few yrs…. LOL
What you have in that picture is called a Roman (also Bell, Round or Even arch). But, Moorish architecture also used different types of arches: Horseshoe, Ogee, and even what later would become known as Syrian.

Good job, mewoone. I couldn't find an Arabic translated to English term, just the typical English terms (round, Roman) or the word written in Arabic.

I've learned something new.

Would Qoos apply to a rounded lintel? As in 'they went under the lintel and into the house'.

A rounded lintel, mmm i don't think so

by the way, there are two kinds of Qoos, A rounded Qoos and Al Qoos

Alsmuti

Arch Alsmuti which means Arch of Heaven.

From the picture that you putted i can see it is the rounded Qoos.
