Some books I've read contained a preface. The preface is basically the author talking to the reader and includes information as to what inspired the author to write the book and mentioning names of those who contributed.

What's the importance of a preface? Who here is putting one in their works? Why do authors use a preface in their books?

A preface is a note written by either the author, editor or, if translated, translator explaining anything that might need to be explained prior to reading the body of the text. This section is only add at the publishing editor's request. (I think.)
