Burmashave ...

I'm old enough to remember them. The AZ department of transportation uses Burma Shave type signs (only white on green) to remind the clueless to watch out for deer and elk on our rural roads. They are only partially effective. We still lose a number of clueless each year, and even more of the poor deer and elk.

As a young whippersnapper, trying to understand what you ancients are talking about, those were the signs of a few words each, in succession, making a little rhyme? 'Cause there are people who still make them today, except instead of advertising a product, they are gun-nuts and anti-choice folks. They make trips funny, until you realize what they whole thing says. I wish I could remember one for an example...

Our local radio station used to read those old ads on Saturday nights. They don't do it anymore, and to be honest, I kind of miss 'em.

Hhaha. We have those in Ireland. Although they are usually always for sales and stuff, car dealerships.
